Altanza<\/strong> receives the Best Fortified Wine of the Year for its exceptional Palo Cortado, La Saca<\/a>, at the 3rd edition of The Master Winemaker 100 Awards organized by the prestigious magazine The Drink Business.<\/a>
\nIn this third edition held in Paris, Altanza has been awarded the highest honour, Best Fortified Wine of the Year<\/a> for La Saca, with a limited edition of 198 bottles. Aged in Centennial Solera, and undergoing oxidative aging for over 100 years, La Saca presents itself as a Dry Palo Cortado Generoso, crafted 100% from Palomino, one of the most representative varieties of the Jerez Designation of Origin.
\nLa Saca<\/a> is a wine that, according to Carlos Ferreiro, winemaker at Altanza, “exhibits exceptional finesse, a wine that is completely brilliant, elegant, and different<\/em>.” On the palate, it displays a topaz colour with coppery notes, intense aromas of hazelnut, walnut, and toasted, vegetal, and tobacco notes. It has a powerful, dry mouthfeel, highly expressive, with a full body and an exquisite finish, balanced with broad nuances of the Solera.
\nAltanza decided to make the leap to Jerez in 2021 to continue adding high-quality wines and achieve the dream of being present in the two oldest Designations of Origin in Spain: D.O. Ca Rioja and D.O. Jerez. The winery is located in the historic Barrio de Santiago, the cradle of flamenco, in Jerez de la Frontera, and its facilities include a large Gallery dedicated entirely to the world of Sherry, created by Roberto Amillo, an enthusiastic expert of the D.O. Jerez.
